Strikers Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani have returned to Uruguay’s national squad for 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Colombia, Argentina and Brazil, the country’s football association said on Friday.
Atletico Madrid’s Suarez has recovered from a knee injury that sidelined him from the Celeste’s triple header of World Cup qualifiers earlier this month.
Cavani’s availability is less certain and could hinge on whether quarantine requirements for players returning to Britain from South America — which prevented him from playing in the Celeste’s most recent qualifiers — are still in place.
Head coach Oscar Tabarez also recalled Sporting Lisbon defender Sebastian Coates and Benfica striker Darwin Nunez on a provisional 30-man list.
