Upward trend drives DSE again

The broader price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished on Tuesday near 5,600 points mark again on higher transaction of large cap securities after January 26 when it closed at 5,618.64 points.
Major sectors including engineering, tannery industries, insurance, travel and leisure and textile finished higher when 158 securities ended higher against 72 declining issues. The major losing sectors included mutual fund and pharmaceutical and chemical.
The broader DSEX of DSE finished the day 40.14 points up at 5,598.71. The two selective indices – DS30 and DSES – were also marginally up at 2034.52 and 1308.71 respectively.
Majority of the issues traded on the two bourses closed the week up on moderate demand. Out of the 327 issues traded on DSE, 195 gained against 91 losing issues.
The trade value at DSE increased to Taka 1,173.69 crore from the previous session Taka 1,093.50 crore while the trade volume also rose to 32.57 crore from 28.55 crore shares of Monday trading.
