Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said the work on upgrading each of the upazila health complexes to a 50-bed hospital from 31-bed one is going on as part of the present government’s commitment of providing improved medicare services to the people.
The health minister said this on Tuesday while replying to a scripted question of treasury bench member Kamrul Ashraf Khan in the Jatiya Sangsad (JS).
Nasim said with a view to providing specialized medical treatment at the upgraded upazila health complexes different posts of junior consultant of child specialist, gynecologist and eye specialist were created.
He said the work on appointing doctors to the created post is going on. In replying to another question from treasury bench lawmaker Nizam Uddin Hazari, the health minister said the government has no plan to set up new medical colleges in the country at this moment.
