UPDF’s blockade observed peacefully in Rangamati

The half-day road-waterway blockade, enforced by United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) protesting the killing of three of its activists on Sunday, was observed on peacefully in the district on Tuesday.
The activists of UPDF put up barricade on different roads of the district including Kutubchhari, Manikchhari, Sapchhari, Naniarchar and Kawkhali area in the morning.
No long route buses departed from the district, causing immense sufferings to the travellers.
Additional police members have been deployed in the key points of the district town and upazilas.
Three UPDF activists-Anik Chakma,30, Sumon Chakma,28, and Sujoy Chakma,35, –were shot dead allegedly by rival Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) cadres at Bhaibonchhara in Longgadu upazila early Sunday.
Locals said some cadres of pro-peace treaty PCJSS sprayed bullets on a group of activists of UPDF in the dead of night while they were staying in the area, leaving three of them dead on the spot.
UPDF leader Mickel Chakma confirmed the deaths.
He also alleged that members of Santu Larma’s party JSS were responsible for the killing.
Meanwhile, JSS leader Sajib Chakma denied the UPDF leader Mickel Chakma’s allegation.
