Law enforcers have arrested a member of the UPDF (Prasit) group Kalyan Jyoti Chakma (21) in Panchhari, Khagrachhari, along with arms, ammunition, receipts and important documents. He was arrested on Thursday morning from Punjgang Bazar area of Logang Union.
It is learned that on the basis of the news that two UPDF collectors were extorting money from the Pujgang market area, the terrorists opened fire on the security forces. At that time, the security forces fired back.
One of the two terrorists, Ripon Tripura, 22, escaped. Another Kalyan Jyoti Chakma (21) was arrested with injuries. Important documents including a domestic pistol, two rounds of ammunition, three mobile phones and eleven thousand rupees in cash were recovered from him.
Jyoti Chakma was handed over to Panchhari police after initial treatment. According to Panchhari police station sources, there is an arms case in his name in Panchhari police station.
