An organizer of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) was shot dead by armed assailants at Buddhodhan Karbaripara in Ramgar upazila on Sunday.
The dead was identified as Ranjan Chakma,45, of Hajachhara in Laxmichhari.
UPDF central media wing chief Niron Chakma said Ranjan came under attack at about 9:30am while going to parshuramghat for the organizational works. “The assailants shot him at point blank range left him dead on the spot,” he added.
Niron Chakma accused Santu Larma-led PCJSS activists for the killing. The PCJSS, however, denied its involvement with the killing.
Khagrachhari Police Super M Mojid Ali confirmed the incident.
