UP Elections: UP polls fever grips Dakhsin Surma

Election campaign in seven unions of Dakshin Surma Upazila in Sylhet has gained momentum ahead of the election scheduled to be held on May 7 this year.
The candidates and their near and dear ones have been moving door to door of the voters to cast their votes favouring their own candidates.
 During a visit to Dakhsin Surma upazila, this correspondent found that makeshift campaign offices were established which are covered with candidate posters.
Supporters of the candidates have also been doing election campaigning from 2pm to 8pm using sound systems.The roads and streets were seen filled with digital banners and black and white posters.
Aftab Ali , a voter of Jalalpur Union said, the candidates who were not residing in the locality appearing in their area sudden to participate in the union parishad elections scheduled to be held on May 7.They have been moving even in the houses of unknown people identifying themselves as their near and dear ones.
Islam Uddin, a voter of mogla Bazar union said, the respect of the people in their area was increased following the union parsihad election. The rural people are appreciated highly by the vote seeking people, He said.
Upazila Election Officer of Dakshin Surma Upazilla Amdadul Haque said, 37aspirants have submitted nominations for the chairmanship, 268 for the ward member and 52 for the Female ward member positions.
.Dakhsin Surma upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Shahed Mostafa said: Election campaign has been going on in full swing. We are yet to get any complaints against any candidates regarding violation of electoral law. We will take legal actions if we receive any complaint.
