A union parishad member was hacked to death by miscreants in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria early on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Md Shawkot Hossain alias Jasim, 40, a member of No 1 ward of Mehari union parishad of the upazila.
The deceased’s daughter Zedny Akter said that someone called his father over cell phone and he got out of on Friday evening.
He called home around 8:15pm on Friday and informed that he was coming. Later, it was learnt that he was beaten up and kept at Jamuna Government Primary School.
He was first sent to Kasba upazila health complex and then to Cumilla Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, his daughter added.
