UP member found dead in Jessore

Mesbahuddin Chantu, 40, member of Khedapara union parishad and activist of Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal under Monirampur upazila in Jessore was found dead during police custody.
The police recovered the body from the rail track at Manikdihi in Jessore sadar upazila on Thursday morning.
Shahid Iqbal Hossain, mayor, Monirampur Municipality and also president of the upazila unit BNP described the incident as fresh killing. ‘ Chantu was an elected union council member and also a devoted activist of Jatiyatabadi Jubadal,’ he said.
Monirampur police handed him over to the detective branch at around 8am on Wednesday after bringing him from Dhaka where he had been arrested by the police earlier, the mayor added.
While reached, assistant superintendent of police and also spokesperson of the law enforcement agency, Jessore told that she does not know anything about the incident.
Moniruzzaman, officer in-charge, detective branch, Jessore also described his ignorance about it.
Ruhul Kuddus Montu, elder brother of the victim told that the police threw the body of his brother under the wheel of a speedy train after killing him as because he had been under police custody till the killing.
