Navel Police have arrested a Union Parishad (UP) member from Aganagar village of Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj on Monday evening.for tourists boat robbery.
The arrested man as Shaheed Miah, a UP member in Aganagar Union Parishad of Bhairab upazila.
Police said that, on Sunday a group of 14 members Tourists from Bhairab River Port were attacked by a group of robbers while traveling in a engine boat to Nikli haor.
The bandit group robbery 12 smart phones and Tk 50,000 in cash from them at gun point.
A young tourist Maqsud Hasan in Jagannathpur of Bhairab town filed the case at Bhairab Naval Police outpost on behalf of the aggrieved tourists.
Saidur Rahman, In-Charge of Bhairab Naval Police Outpost, said that it was initially known that UP member Shaheed was involved in the robbery incident. During the robbery, the miscreants were also obstructed by the locals. At that time, the bandits were chased by the locals and fled by leaving the boat. The boat is now in police custody. One person has been arrested in this case so far.
