UP election camp in Bhangura vandalised

In Mandotosh and Bhangura Union Parishad elections under Bhangura Upazila of Pabna district, there have been attacks on workers and election camps of independent candidates. At least seven people were injured in the incident. Among them, Suruj Ali (26), Mokbul Hossain (22), Emon Hossain (21) and Nayan Mia (20) have been admitted to Bhangura Upazila Health Complex. All the injured are supporters of Nur Islam Mintu, an independent chairman candidate in Mandotosh Union.
It has been reported that around 9:30 PM on Saturday night during the election campaign, Nur Islam Mintu, the independent chairman candidate of Horse Marka in Mandotosh Union, with
the workers were attacked by miscreants. At least seven people, including Nur Islam Mintu and four of his staff, were injured.
In this regard, the Nouka’s candidate Afsar Ali and the independent candidate Nur Islam Mintu have complained to the police against each other that the opponents are running the election campaign with the hired thugs.
The other incident took place on Saturday night at Charbhangura village in Bhangura union. The election camp of independent chairman candidate Horse Marka Golam Faruq Tukun attacked and vandalised. Golam Faruq Tukun said, “Belal Hossain Khan, the chairman candidate of the Nouka, is obstructing the campaign by threatening my workers fearing defeat in the election.” He said he had lodged a written complaint with the Police and the Returning Officer’s Office.
Nouka’s candidate Belal Hossain Khan termed the incident as unwelcome and said, “My election camp has also been vandalised there.”
 On Sunday, Muhammad Anwar Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Bhangura Thana admitted those incidents and said that he had received separate allegations from both candidates and also said two cases were being investigated.
Roksana Nasrin, Returning Officer and Upazila Election Officer said both sides accused each other of assault and vandalison Sunday (October 11th) at noon, She also said action would be taken after investigating the matter.
It may be mentioned that voting will be held on October 20 in the elections of those two Union Parishads.
