A union parishad chairman was killed as a bus crashed into his motorcycle at Bohuti area in Sadar upazila on Saturday. The deceased was identified as SM Amirul Islam Groho, 59, chairman of Naogaon Union Parishad in Tarash upazila. Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Hela Uddin said a speeding bus of
‘Suborna Enterprise’ hit his motorbike from the opposite direction on Sirajganj-Nakla regional highway in the area around 11am, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rescued Amirul and took him to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead. The accident took place when Amirul, also vice-president of the union unit BNP, was going to the district town to attend a workshop, the OC added. A case was filed.
