A Union Parishad chairman was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants at Mohonganj Bazar in Mohonganj upazila early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Mahmudul Haque Rana, a chairman of No 2 Bottoli-Baniyahari Union Parishad.
Police said miscreants attacked Rana with sharps weapons at Mohonganj Bazar area in the week hours on Friday, leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, said Ramijul Haque, officer-in-charge of Mohonganj Police station.
He might have been killed over previous enmity, added the OC.
