Creative literary organisation` Ganer Kobi Praner Kobi Nazrul’ arranged a reception and book unveiling programme at ‘Oboshor Bhaban’at Dhanmondi in the city on Friday on the occasion of the publication of the book titled ‘The Rebel’-translation of of Kazi Nazrul Islam by eminent translator, columnist and poet Anis Fatema.
Presided over by poet Farid Sayed, moderated by poet Mansur Muzammil, Convener of the organization, the programme was attended by Prof Dr. Anwanrul Karim, educationist and litterateur of international repute, as the Chief Guest. The special guests were Mintu Rahman, General Secretary, Nazrul Academy, Dhaka and Nazrul researcher Abdul Muqit Chowdhury. The guests were journalist Alam Hosain, poet Mohiuddin Akbar, dramatist Lutful Ahsan Babu, publisher Sayed Ahmed Anis, including Anis Fatema, the translator of ‘Bidrohi’.
The speakers focused on the greatness of Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and expressed opinion that he is one of the greatest poets of all ages and his poem ‘Bidrohi’ is unique.
‘The Rebel’- the last translation by Anis Fatema in the series of translations of ‘Bidrohi’ formerly, is a contribution towards introducing our National Poet to the English reading people of the world, for which she deserves praise.
It may be mentioned Anis Fatema is an Associate Member of the Executive Committee of Nazrul Academy, Dhaka.
She has been awarded a crest on this occasion by the organization for her praiseworthy translation.
The participants of reciting poems on the poet and discussion on his literature were poet Syed Nazmul Ahsan, Dr. M.A. Muktadir, Mazeda Refiqunnesa, Manik Chakrabarty, Khan Kausar, Abdus Salam Chowdhury, Sayeed Zubayer, Faridul Haq Rentu, Adv. Delwar Hossain Bhuyian, Kawsar Hosain Sweet, Noring Kasem, Fahim Khan, Farin Khan, Nila Rahman Rekha, Selim Ahmed, Mostofa Muntaz, Asia Zaman, Matiara Chowdhury Minu, Zakir Hosain, Riyad Muhammad Khan,Ashok Biswas, Jahangir Alam, Anamul Karim, Saleh Ahammed, Hosne Ara Bakul, Meherunnesa, Sayeda Suraya, Sayma Khatun Riva, Shashi Yasmin and others.
