Unscientific measures on combating covid pandemic are responsible for deteriorating situation across the country, as per experts’ views.
Public health experts blamed the government’s steps to contain the pandemic especially after detecting Indian variant of the virus was not scientific.
Meanwhile, health officials including frontier districts Civil Surgeons are giving most responsibilities to the people’s apathy.
The data of the Directorate General of Health Services showed that 4,846 cases were detected after testing 25028 samples on Tuesday.
It has recorded 19.3 6per cent infections on the days while it was 19.27pc on Monday and 16.38pc on Sunday.
In these situations, government on Monday announced strict lockdown on seven district surrounding Dhaka.
But on public health experts views, it is not enough for containing the deadly disease. When contacted, Professor Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah, Chairman of the National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19 told The New Nation on Tuesday, “The unscientific measures on combating the pandemic are mostly responsible for recent surge of the fatal virus. We have failed to restrain Eid exodus of home going people. It has spread the virus seriously.”
The professor also said, “It was not right steps to keep frontier districts without strict lockdown for long after detecting Indian variant of the virus.” The expert said that the chance is still remaining to curb the spreading taking stern actions against violating health safety measures everywhere including Dhaka.
When contacted, Professor Dr. M. Muzaherul Huq, former Advisor of the World Health Organisation told The New Nation on Tuesday, “No doubt Covid situation is worsening. Government has taken a right decision of lockdown, but if it fails to strictly implementation of measures, we cannot reap the benefit of it.”
The professor suggested that, along with lockdown contact tracing, tests should be widely encouraged and done in all upazila health complexes where isolation and treatment be done to positive cases.
He said whole hearted participation and involvement of people is a must to reduce and stop spreading of the virus.

Meanwhile, health officials alleged that most of the people are showing unawareness of maintaining health safety rules hazardously.
“It is not only for Indian variant, people’s apathy is mostly responsible for sharp spreading of the virus,” Tahmina Shirin, Director of the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) told The New Nation.
She said, “Surprisingly we found people are not worried at all, they ignoring safety rules everywhere.”
