It may be mentioned that the fire broke out in Champaknagar Bazar of the upazila on Sunday evening, October 18, 2020. The initial idea is that the fire started from Shahinur Bhuiyan’s grocery store in the evening. After the fire broke out, the fire spread to the nearby shops very quickly. Seeing the flames and smoke rising from the fire, the people came to the area and tried to control the fire. By that time, some shops in the area were badly damaged in the fire.
Upon receiving the news, Upazila Nirbahi Officer KM Yasir Arafat immediately visited the spot and assured government assistance to the affected traders. Upazila Nirbahi Officer KM Yasir Arafat said, “Under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner, we have been able to provide the promised financial assistance to the affected traders as soon as possible.”
