‘Unknown’ disease claims lives of 6 people in Rajshahi

Six people including a child and two women died of an unknown disease in the last nine days while six people are under treatment at Bohoroil village of Tanore upazila in Rajshahi within week.
According to sources, village doctor Emam Ali Babu, 38, son of late Abdul Kashem, died on Sunday while Nuri Bibi, 65, Jonab Ali, 45, and a four-day baby died on Saturday (January 26), and two others- Somsher Ali, 65, on Monday (January 28), Rahela Begum, 48, on Saturday (February 2) at their respective houses.
On the other hand, the newly affected persons are- Shefali Bibi, 35, wife of Jamenur Rahman, Shemejan Bibi, 50, wife of late Anesur Rahman, Apejan Bibi, 48, wife of Abdul Gafor, Ziya, 25, son of Shofiqul Islam and Sanaullah, 32, son of Abdul Haque. They are now under treatment at upazila health complex.
Quoting local sources, Roziyana Khatun, Tanore upazila health employee, in this regard said that the affected people have been feeling chest and body pain primarily. Then they are losing sense. Among the dead, five people had died on the same way, she also said.
While asking, Tanore upazila nirbahi officer Golam Rabbi said, they are concerned over the death of unknown disease. A medical team already visited the affected village. But exact reason behind the death could not be known yet till now. The expert team will disclose the death matter as soon as possible.
