Zakir Hossain, who received severe burn injuries, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Friday after nine days fighting for survival. He was brought to DMCH from Gonoshastho Kendra Hospital in Savar on deterioration of his condition.
Zakir, a boy of only eleven, did not know about as to who or why he was attacked. His condition was so serious. All the time he as zap hospital could not divulge his identity nor pronounce his parent names.
The DMCH and police are yet to identify his parents or any other relative. His body has yet kept at DMCH Morgue.
The police also do not know about him and they are yet to ascertain the exact cause of his burn. A case would be filed with Ashulia Police Station said Officer-in-Charge Mostafa Kamal.
On January 13, local people found Zakir crying in pain with burn injuries on a road in Nabinagar area and admitted him at Gonoshastho Kendra Hospital in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka.
Later, the victim was referred to the DMCH burn unit as his condition deteriorated, Dr Ashraful Mollik Director of the hospital said. Zakir, with burn injuries all over his body, breathed his last after fighting for life, the doctor said.
Ganaswasthya Nagar Hospital residential doctor Parmeshwar Mahta said one ‘Nayan’ had brought Zakir to the hospital around 8:30pm on Jan 13.
The doctor quoted Nayan having said he had found the boy at the Savar bus stand left there by some people who came in a car.
Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mostafa Kamal said no vehicle was burnt in Savar on the day. “We are investigating how he was burnt,” he said.
