The Anjan’s University Beach Cricket 2014 begins Friday (March 28) at the sports zone of Kalataly beach in the resort town of Cox’s Bazar.
In all, eight private universities, six from Dhaka, two from Chittagong and one from Cox’s bazar, split into two groups, will compete in the two-day six-a-side tournament, organized jointly by Total Plus Ltd., Adventure Views, and Holidays Bangladesh.
The details of the meet were disclosed at a press conference at the Dutch-Bangla auditorium of BOA on Monday.
Event’s Brand Ambassador and former national cricketer Javed Omar Belim, CEO of the meet’s title sponsor Shahin Ahmed, Chiarman of Total Plus SM Abdus Sakur and Chairman of Adventure View Wadud Mohsin Rubel spoke on the occasion.
Participating teams:
Group A – Cox’s Bazar International University; Dhaka International University; Southern University (Chittagong); and East Delta University (Chittagong).
Group B – Sappore Dental College & Hospital; Bangladesh Islami University; Presidency University; and University of South Asia.
Both the semifinals and final of the meet will be held on Saturday (Mar 29).
The champion team will receive prize money of Tk 50,000 while the runners-up team will get Tk 20,000 in addition to man of the match and man of the series awards.
