Unity, women participation needed for survival of universe: Hasan

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud called for unity and active participation of women in protecting environment for survival of the universe.
“There is no alternative to protect nature and environment for survival of the world, so integrated approach along with women participation are needed to this end,” he said.
The minister said this on Friday while addressing in two reception awarding ceremonies on Friends of Earth and Miss Earth held at Raddison Blue Water Garden in the city.
Rotary International and Triple Nine Global organized the function.
Congratulating the organizers and award recipients, Dr Hasan said “There is no alternative to protect nature and environment of the world which is the only place of human existence. So, coordinated approach and full-fledged participation of women are necessary to this endeavor.”
In development world, the information minister said the women are directly related with the nature and environment, adding: The women are directly being affected due to damage of the environment. “So there is no way to come forward by the women in environment protection,” he told the function.
Chaired by Rotary District Governor Motasim Billah Faruqui, noted Environment researcher Dr A Atique Rahman spoke the function as the special guest. Naila Bari, national director of the Miss Earth, and its chief Advisor Noman Rabin moderated the function.
Dr Mobarak Ahmed Khan, Abdul Mukit Majumder, Abdullah Abu Sayeed, Rotary District Governor Motasim Billah Faruqui, noted environment protection organizer Naila Bari and Dr SI Khan were honored with ‘Friends of Nature’ and Umme Jamilatun Naima received Miss Earth award.
