United efforts to check internet-based child repression stressed

Terming the internet-based repression and exploitation against children as growing concern speakers at a discussion unequivocally called for combating all sorts of the violence and repression collectively.
To this end, all the government, non-government entities and others concerned should come forward and work together to address the problem which is being judged as a barrier to the physical and mental development of the children in the present context.
They came up with the observations while addressing a view-sharing meeting titled “Child Repression and exploitation through abusing Internet and its Prevention” in Rajshahi city, said a press release.
Advocate Adiba Anjum Mita, MP, addressed the meeting as the chief guest, while Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil was in the chair.
On behalf of its ‘Sexual Exploitation of Children Online and travel tourism Project’, Association for Community Development (ACD), a rights-based development organization, hosted the meeting at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Shariful Haque, Additional Superintendent of Police Ifte Khayer Alam and social worker Shahin Akter Rainy also spoke.
Associate Prof Shatil Siraj Shuvo from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism in Rajshahi University gave an illustration on the issue and its bad impacts during his multimedia presentation.
Deputy Director of the Department of Women Affairs Shobnom Shirin, Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat and ACD Project Coordinator Monirul Islam took part in the open discussion.
Lawmaker Mita said utmost emphasis should be given on halting the crimes through concerted efforts of all government and non-government entities concerned.
She noted that forging social resistance side by side with creating awareness among the parents and other guardians concerned has become crucial to end the internet-based child repression.
The government has adopted various time-fitting measures to end cybercrimes. So, all the government and private entities should supplement the government endeavour, she added.
