Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said child marriage deprives boys and girls of their rights and orphans and poor children become the victim of child marriage.
He said this on Monday while speaking at a programme to launch ‘Shahana Cartoon’ jointly made by UNFPA and Swedish government. UNFPA country representative Argentina P Metavel chaired the event while Ambassador of Switzerland to Bangladesh Christian Fotsch attended it as special guest.
The information minister said child marriage is a curse and poverty, gender disparity and superstition are main reasons behind it. It must be stopped with cooperation of all, he added. Jointly produced by UNFPA and Switzerland government , ‘Shahana Cartoon’ will create awareness among the people against child marriage.
