Media Adviser to the Prime Minister Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury urged the pro-liberation forces to be united to foil the conspiracy of the anti-liberation forces in the upcoming general elections.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion commemorating freedom fighter Shaheed Shawpan Kumar Chowdhury at Abdul Khalek Auditorium of Chittagong Press Club on Monday afternoon.
Shawpon Kumar Chowdhury Memorial Committee, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad Chittagong City Unit Commander, and Zilla Commanders jointly organized the discussion programme.
Presided over by Abu Sufian, former president of Chittagong Press Club and Director of Rupali Bank, the programme was addressed, among others, by Suklal Das, General Secretary of Chittagong Press Club, Zilla Commander M Shahabuddin, Prabhat Chandra Barua, Vice Chancellor of USTC, Dr Prabir Das, Cardiologist of Chittagong Medical College Hospital, Commander Mozaffar Ahmed and Dr Mahafuzur Rahman, researcher of Liberation War.
Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, also the Daily Observer Editor, said, “…freedom fighters are our pride. They’ve liberated the country sacrificing their lives during the War of Liberation in 1971.”
He also said a vested quarter have been trying to destroy the country’s history as well as denying the contribution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Terming them the enemy of the nation, he urged all to resist them at any cost.
