The Special Olympics Bangladesh (SOB) will arrange a daylong Unified Sports Festival in the city today (Monday) as part of global programme on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Special Olympics.
US Ambassador in Dhaka Marcia Bernicat will inaugurate the event at the Bangabandhu National Stadium as the chief guest at 10 am.
Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Syed Shahed Reza will be a special guest. SOB Chairman Dr Shamim Motin Chowdhury and SOB National Director Faruqul Islam will also be present on the occasion.
Over 120 physically challenged players will compete in four disciplines of sports — unified football, table tennis, badminton and bouchi — in the daylong meet.
