Unidentified miscreants vandalise Ziaur Rahman`s mausoleum

bdnews24.com: The mausoleum of Ziaur Rahman at the Chandrima Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area has been vandalised. A group of unidentified miscreants were responsible for the mischief on Wednesday night, police say. Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Tejgaon Zone Assistant Commissioner Afzarul Haque Tutul said six people including the mausoleum in-charge have been detained. He told bdnews24.com, “We found a number of tiles broken in the morning. We are questioning those detained to find out more.” Photographers of bdnews24.com have found a number of tiles at the mausoleum dismantled and broken. Sammilito Peshajibi Parishad’s Acting Convener Ruhul Amin Gazi condemned the incident. “The Ziaur Rahman mausoleum is so close to the Ganabhaban, that has maximum security. We demand immediate arrest of the culprits.” he told a press conference on Thursday.
