The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Bangladesh is willing to work with University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh for developing curriculum on Communication for Development (C4D) at tertiary level education of Bangladesh. With this end in view, UNICEF in association with UGC offered to organize a workshop in Dhaka this year.
The interest was shown when Neha Kapil, Chief, Communication for Development, UNICEF, Bangladesh called on Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman, UGC at the latter’s office on Wednesday. Yasmin Khan, Communication for Development Specialist, UNICEF Bangladesh and Dr Masudul Biswas, Assistant Professor, Communication Development, LOYOLA University Maryland, USA assisted Neha Kapil during the meeting.
Neha Kapil said that Communication for Development is very essential for socio-economic development of Bangladesh. UNICEF wants to develop a curriculum on Communication for Development (C4D) for qualitative development of higher education of Bangladesh. For this, we want to arrange a two or three day workshop this year in Bangladesh.
Welcoming the delegation at his office, Prof Mannan termed the proposal by the delegation as excellent and said that it will add value to the enhancement of higher education of the country. He observed that curriculum development is a continuous process. UGC always welcomes local and international assistance and cooperation for enhancement of excellence of tertiary education of Bangladesh, he added.
Prof Dr Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Member, UGC, Prof Dr Dil Afroza Begum, Member, UGC, Prof Dr Md. Akhtar Hossain, Member, UGC, Prof Dr M Shah Nowaz Ali, Member, UGC and Dr Md. Khaled, Secretary, UGC among others, were present on the occasion.
