A two-member delegation led by Dorothy Foote, Programme Specialist and Nutrition Security Project Coordinator of East Asia and Pacific Regional Office of United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Thailand called on Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique on Monday at the latter’s office. Another member of the delegation was Dr. A. J. Fadia Sultana, Nutrition Specialist of UNICEF, Dhaka, Bangladesh, says a press release.
DU Prof. And former Director of Institute of Nutrition and Food Science (INFS) Prof. Dr. Golam Mowlah and Director of the same institute Prof. Dr. Aleya Mowlah were, among others present on the occasion.
During the meeting they discussed various aspects of nutritional status in global as well as Bangladesh perspectives. The delegation informed that UNICEF Bangladesh has been working in 43 districts in the country to improve health and nutritional condition of poor and distressed children and women. Therefore, they praised the performance and contribution of DU graduates who are working with UNICEF in this regard in different capacities.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked UNICEF for their support to uplift nutrition scenario of the country through approaching malnourished children and women.
