Visiting Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova on Monday paid a courtesy call on Cultural Affairs Minister Asadizzaman Noor at secretariat here.
During the meeting, they dwelt on various matters related to bilateral issues and mutual interests, an official handout said here.
Lauding various roles of UNESCO, the minister said Bangladesh attaches great importance to its relations with UNESCO.
Noting that Bangladesh has sent a list of heritage sites to UNESCO to include those into its (UNESCO) Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage list, the minister sought the UNESCO DG’s cooperation in this regard.
Terming Bangladesh as a potential country with rich natural and cultural heritages, Bokova assured the minister of extending her cooperation to recognize the heritage sites of Bangladesh.
Cultural Affairs Secretary Dr Ranajit Kumar Biswas and UNESCO Dhaka Office Chief Beatrica Kaldun were present.
