Miscreants hacked uncle and his nephew to death at Eklashpur village in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali district early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Md Ali, 28, and his nephew Robin, 18, both residents of the village, our Noakhali Correspondent reports quoting police.
M Ilias Sharif, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Noakhali, said, “A gang of seven to eight miscreants stopped a motorcycle and hit Robin with sharp weapons on VIP road near Eklashpur Bazar, leaving him dead on the spot.
The attackers dumped the body of Robin, son of Abdul Quader, in a local pond, the SP said.
Sensing danger, Md. Ali ran into the house of his paternal aunt but the criminals entered the house and stabbed him to death, the SP said.
Ali’s father Solaiman said, the incident took place when his son along with Robin was going to Eklashpur Bazar by a motorcycle in the wee hours of Saturday.
Local people said they woke up hearing the hue and cry and later found the body the of a youth into a pond in the early hours.
However, neighbour Fayez’s wife said Md Ali rushed into their home in early hours as four to five miscreants chased him with weapons. They hacked him indiscriminately, leaving Ali dead on the spot.
Begumganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Firoz Alam Mollah said, being informed, they recovered the bodies and sent them to Noakhali General Hospital morgue.
Both the deceased were drug dealers, the OC said.
Meanwhile, a Baul Artiste was hacked to death by miscreants in a shrine at Tajpur village in Ashuganj upazila of Brahmanbaria district on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Kuddus Mia, 28, son of Shahid Mia, inhabitant of Bitgher village of Sarail upazila in the district, reports our local correspondent quoting police.
Mezbah Ahmed, Inspector (Investigation) of Ashuganj Police Station said, “A gang of miscreants attacked Kuddus Mia while he was returning home after taking part in a Urs programme in Tajpur village around 11:00pm on Friday. He was admitted to Ashuganj Upazila Health Complex in a critical condition where the on-duty doctors declared him dead on yesterday morning”.
