Unbeaten Bangladesh Under-20 Football team reached the final of the SAFF Under-20 Championship after playing a 1-1 draw with Nepal Under-20 Football team in their last group match at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
Bangladesh made a good start in the SAFF Under-20 Championship beating Sri Lanka by a solitary goal in their first match on July 25 at the same venue.
Bangladesh maintained their winning streak beating favourites India by 2-1 goals in their second match on July 27 at the same venue. Piash Ahmed scored all the two goals for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh kept their winning run thrashing Maldives by 4-1 goals in their third match on July 29 at the same venue. Merajul of Bangladesh scored a hat-trick.
Bangladesh collected 10 points from as four matches, while Nepal gained seven points from as many outings.
Bangladesh will play in the final on August 5 at the same venue.
The first half was locked 0-0.
After the barren first half, players of Bangladesh and Nepal were engaged in tight tussle. The referee showed red card to Shohidul of Bangladesh and a forward of Nepal for their unplayable attitude. Thus, Bangladesh and Nepal became 10-man teams.
Piash Ahmed of Bangladesh put his team ahead by scoring a goal in the 62nd minute of the play.
After six minutes, substitute Mall of Nepal leveled the margin by a spectacular shot outside the D-box of Bangladesh.
After the goal, the players of the two teams failed to score any goal. Thus, unbeaten Bangladesh confirmed their final berth.
