UN invites Saima to present keynote paper on autism in New York

The United Nations has invited Bangladesh’s National Advisory Committee on Autism chairperson Saima Wazed Hossain to present the keynote paper at a seminar at its headquarters in New York on the occasion of the World Autism Awareness Day on April 1.
“The seminar titled ‘Facing Autism: Strategies of World Community in the Light of SDGs’ will be held at 3 pm (New York time) on April 1,” Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan told BSS.
Saima, also a member of World Health Organisation’s (WHO) expert advisory panel on mental health and the daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, would act as a moderator of an event titled “Elimination of Disparity” as well at 11 am the same day.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information Cristina Gallach, UN General Assembly President Mogens Lykketof as well as representatives of the member states and executives of different UN bodies will join the daylong function.
Bangladesh, India, Qatar, South Korea and “Autism Speaks” will jointly arrange the event which would be broadcast live by the UN Web TV.
