Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor M Atiqul Islam said the city corporation has taken all necessary steps to construct an ultra modern bus terminal at city’s Gabtoli area.
“The DNCC has taken all necessary initiatives for building an ultra-modern bus terminal in tune with developed world,”he said this recently while distributing relief materials among jobless transport workers and distressed people at Gabtoli bus terminalin the city.
As part of the humanitarian assistance on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the DNCC Mayor distributed 1500 packets relief materials comprising with rice, pulse, potato, soyabean oil and salt among 1500 jobless transport workers and poor people.
To face novel corona virus pandemic, he said a peopleswelfare programme is being continued by the DNCC, saying that “emergency food assistance support for the distressed people is continuously being operated by the DNCC after making a call on 333 number.”
Even the DNCC has opened hot line numbers 09602222333 and 09602222334for the helpless people, he mentioned.
Calling the illegal grabbers to give up their occupied land inside the canal, Mayor said “the illegal grabbers must have to remove quickly their illegal structures which have been constructed by occupying land in the canal, otherwise illegal structures will be demolished through the drive led by the DNCC.”
“No legal notice will be issued against any illegal grabbers,they will be evicted without issuing any further notice,” the Mayor told the function.
Atique, however, stressed on undertaking a neat and clean programme by enforcing a slogan ‘clean own household for 10 minutes at 10 o’clock in every Saturday’. All have to participate spontaneously in the programme to curb further mortality due to Dengue and Chikongunia under the pandemic situation.
Side by side, everyone must have to follow the proper health guidelines and government rules including wearing musk in order to protect from corona virus spreading, he added.
Chaired by DNCC’s councillor of ward-9 Mujib SarwarMasum,the programme was also attended, among others, by Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation President Shahjahan Khan MP, Aga Khan Mintoo MP of Dhaka-14, DNCC’s Chief Executive Officer M Selim Reza, Chief Health Officer Brigadier General M Jobaidur Rahman, Bangladesh Road Transport Workers’ Federation General Secretary M Osman Ali, Bangladesh Bus Truck Owners Association Chairman Ramesh Chandra Ghosh and local councillors.
