Campus Report :
Startup Dhaka and University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) signed an MoU on Monday at the ULAB Campus A Building in Dhanmondi in the capital to launch digitization initiatives that will benefit ULAB and Startup Dhaka Online School. Prof Imran Rahman, Special Advisor to the Board of Trustees at ULAB, and Mustafizur Rahman, Founder and CEO, Startup Dhaka, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.
Startup Dhaka Online School is an initiative created to impart knowledge and skills on a variety of topics related to entrepreneurship.
Through this platform, international and local experts on topics including finance, entrepreneurship, leadership, ICT, etc., will provide short video lectures available to anyone using the platform.
Entrepreneurship promotion is also a focus area of the ULAB Business School and the ULAB Center for Enterprise and Society (CES). Under this partnership, ULAB faculty members will impart knowledge and skills on various fundamental topics related to entrepreneurship.
According to the 13th Quarterly Labor Force Survey (QLFS) by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), around 2.6 million of the 62.1 million strong labor force of the country was unemployed in 2015-16. Given the sizable demographic dividend and relatively limited number of jobs available, entrepreneurship is essential for livelihood generation of citizens as well as growth and development of the country.
Other than contributing to entrepreneurship promotion, both ULAB and Startup Dhaka are confident that this partnership signifies a new milestone in the development of online education in the country.
