Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) and Manarat International University (MIU) moved into the semifinals of the 7th ULAB Inter-Private University Fair Play Cup T20 Cricket beating their rivals in super eight stages at ULAB playground in Mohammadpur on Saturday.
In the semifinals on Monday (Feb 3), University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) will face Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) at 9:30 am while North South University (NSU) will face Manarat International University (MIU) at 1:30 pm at ULAB playground in Ramchandrapur, Mohammadpur.
In the day’s first match, IUB smartly booked a seat for the semis with all-win record eliminating State University Bangladesh (SUB) by 10 runs.
Earlier, IUB reached the “super eight” as Group C champions beating Eastern University by 13 runs and BRAC University by 17 runs
Sent into bat first in the day’ match, IUB scored 100 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in allocated 20 overs with Rushdi scoring 18, Nayamot 17, Sajib 12, Sushmoy 12 and Rahat 10 runs.
Jenet of SUB grabbed three wickets for 20 runs while Mahfuz took two wickets for 16 runs.
In reply, SUB were all out for 90 in 19 overs despite an unconquered 37 runs by Rubayet, in the face of devastating bowling by Kajol.
Kajol of IUB, who contributed unbeaten 7 runs, also bowled superbly to grab four wickets for 9 runs in his four over spell and was adjudged man of the match.
Rafi and Shuvo also picked up two wickets each for 14 and 20 runs respectively.
In the day’s 2nd match, Manarat International University (MIU) defeated Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) by 4 wickets at the same venue.
Winning the toss, NUB batted first and scored 127 runs for 6 wickets in stipulated 20 overs with Rimon contributing a brilliant 41 runs off 29 balls.
In reply, MIU reached their target scoring 130 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in only 17.5 overs.
Omar Faruque of MIU hammered an unbeaten 55 off just 35 balls and was adjudged man of the match.
