University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) celebrated its 13th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm at the auditorium of its Dhanmondi campus in the capital on Monday. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, MP, presided over the ceremony as chief guest. Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, was present as special guest. Member of ULAB’s Board of Trustees Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP delivered the welcome speech, says a press release.
The Education Minister said in his speech, “ULAB is one of the most successful universities of our country. It does not focus on money-making – rather it focuses in quality education.” He requested all the students to strive to become well-rounded human beings.
Praising to ULAB Board of Trustees, UGC Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan said “ULAB will be one of the finest universities in the country in the very near future.”
Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP, described how ULAB has already begun operations in its permanent campus. ULAB Emeritus Prof Rafiqul Islam also spoke at the program, explaining how ULAB was the only private university who made the study of Bangla language and Bangladesh culture compulsory from its beginning.
As part of the program, the Education Minister and the ULAB authorities cut a cake to celebrate ULAB’s 13th year of founding. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Vice Chancellor of ULAB Professor Jahirul Haque.
There was a photo exhibition of historic ULAB photos titled, “ULAB: Dawn of a New Vision” in the lobby.
Among others, Board of Trustees Members Juditha Ohlmacher and Taheerah Haque, ULAB Treasurer Prof Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, ULAB Registrar Prof Akhtar Ahmed, deans, heads of the departments, faculty members, admin members, and students attended the Foundation Day program.
