Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) tools such as mediation and arbitration are used around the world to enhance Access to Justice by providing an avenue to obtain amicable and expeditious settlement prioritizing party autonomy. Internationally ADR is the default process for dispute resolution after exhausting which the disputes are filed in courts. Given the huge backlog of cases pending in our courts it has become essential to introduce ADR in the country.
By virtue of this MoU, the parties agree to explore areas of making ADR more effective in the country by introducing the students to ADR methods and skills, jointly organizing awareness programs and events and engage in research activities to promote the use of ADR in the country.
This is the first time BIAC is entering into a cooperation agreement with an educational institution in the country and is delighted to be signing with ULAB. BIAC is the country’s first and only, licensed and registered not-for-profit ADR institution and ULAB is the country’s leading private university.
