Ukraine-Russia second-round talks may take place today

The second round of talks between Ukraine and Russia may take place today in the Brest region on Poland’s border with Belarus, reports CGTN.
Yuri Voskresensky, a Belarusian political scientist who is close to the organizers of the talks, said one of the venues under consideration was the Visculli villa, 8 km from the border.
Ukraine will expand its delegation with two additional MPs, Voskresensky told CGTN’s sister channel CCTV.
The second round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine may take place on March 2, Ukreaine’s Dzerkalo Tyzhnia newspaper reported on Tuesday, citing Ukrainian diplomatic sources, reports ANI.
The newspaper also said that during the first round on Monday, the Russian delegation conveyed Moscow’s demand to enshrine Ukraine’s non-bloc status at the parliamentary level and hold a referendum.
Among other conditions reportedly voiced by Moscow was Kiev’s recognition of the Luhansk and Donetsk people’s republics within the borders of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, as well as the denazification of Ukraine.
The first round of negotiations lasted around six hours on Monday, with the Russian delegation saying common ground had been reached in some areas.
Going into the talks, Ukraine insisted it would not surrender an inch of territory while Russia demanded guarantees for its future security.
Earlier, the Ukrainian media outlet also disclosed the terms advanced by the sides during the first meeting on Monday. According to the report, Russia has demanded Ukraine commit to paper its off-bloc status at the parliamentary level and organize a referendum on this matter. The Russian also side demanded Ukraine recognise the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics in the administrative borders of the corresponding regions and drop its demand that Crimea should be returned to Ukraine. On the other hand, Ukraine demanded a ceasefire and withdrawal of Russian troops from its territory, reported Glavkom.
