A visiting delegation of the UK-Bangladesh trade catalyst had a meeting with Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi MP and officials of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) on Sunday when they discussed the investment potential in different sectors in the country.
Enthused by the call of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to further explore and promote investment, the UK Bangladesh Catalysts of Commerce & Industry (UKBCCI) has been urging entrepreneurs to explore trade and investment opportunities in Bangladesh, according to a UNB report.
With the growing concerns in the face of Brexit and the growing possible withdrawal from the European Union, investment in Bangladesh at the moment is ever more appealing, obviously.
The UKBCCI is a leading umbrella organisation for successful British-Bangladeshi entrepreneurs in the UK and Bangladesh.
The Commerce Minister expressed deep satisfaction at the noble venture of the UKBCCI and reaffirmed all out help and cooperation from the government to the prospective trade body.
Vice Chairman and CEO of the EPB Bijoy Bhattacharjee also attended the meeting.
Secretary of Commerce Md. Mafizul Islam moderated the discussion.
UKBCCI Chair Iqbal Ahmed OBE DBA thanked the minister and said they are willing to explore opportunities in ICT, garments and other manufacturing, infrastructure, engineering, construction, logistics, banking, tourism, financial services and many other consumer sectors with the view to enhance life of the people and bring prosperity to all.
UKBCCI President Bajloor Rashid MBE on the other hand, detailed on the positive responses they are having from meeting important leaders from public and private sectors, secretaries and leaders of business bodies like BIDA, FBCCI and the others and initiate further possibilities in the aforesaid sectors.
