The culture of the Korean Peninsula has a lot in common with the social and family values of the Bengalis. However, there are also many differences.
South Korea has already been able to grab the attention of the world regarding issues like justice, democracy, good governance, human development and freedom of the press. Like many other things of the country, Korean dramas, films and music as known K-Drama, K-Movie and K-Pop are now very popular around the globe. Also, the popularity of South Korean literature and art is growing.
Ujan Prakashan has published two important translations of Korean literature. Korear Kobita (Korean Poetry) – A collection of poems by notable Korean poets of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, and Korear Golpo (Short Stories of Korea) – A collection of translated works by important fiction writers of the same period. Ujan has organized a Review Contest on the two books.
Literature Translation Institute-LTI of South Korea is collaborating in this event.
Ujan is inviting reviews of the two books. The winner of this contest will get Tk 20,000. The second prize is Tk 15,000 and the third prize Tk 10,000. Each of the top 10 reviewers selected in this competition will be given books worth Tk 5,000. The best reviewers will be selected by a committee comprising of notable poets, writers and translators of the country. One can submit review on one book only. The review can be in either essay or video format but the language must be Bangla.
