‘UGC working to enhance quality of education’

Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) Professor Abdul Mannan said, UGC has been working to enhance the quality of education and research at tertiary level through uninterrupted high-speed internet connectivity provided by BdREN to the university level.
‘Teachers, students and researchers of the country are being immensely benefited by it’, he adding, ‘that internet connectivity is a must to have access to the world pool of knowledge in today’s globalized world’, the UGC Chairman said this on Monday while addressing the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest of an international seminar on ‘Strategies for Sustainable Research and Education Networks’ at Samson H Chowdhury Centre of Dhaka Club in the city.
Member of UGC Professor Dr Md Akhtar Hossain was in the chair with Asia Pacific University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Jamilur Reza Chowdhury and Abdullah Al Hasan Chowdhury, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education addressed the event as guests of honour.
Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Professor Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, Dr Gauranga Chandra Mohanta ndc, Project Director (Additional Secretary), Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) and Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman, Senior Operations Officer, World Bank, delivered their speeches as the special guests, the release added.
Professor Mannan also said that Bangladesh has recently adopted a lot of latest technology to materialize the dream of Digital Bangladesh.
Vice-Chancellors and faculty members from public and private universities, high officials from Ministry of Education, UGC, HEQEP and BdREN, among others, were present at the function, the release added.
