Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah, Chairman of University Grants Commission, Bangladesh (UGC) paid rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Saturday. Other five full-time UGC members paid tribute by placing wreaths at his grave at Tungipara in Gopalganj.
The UGC members are- Prof Dr Md. Akhtar Hossain, Prof Dr M Shah Nowaz Ali, Prof Dr Dil Afroza Begum, Prof Dr Md. Sazzad Hossain and Prof Dr Muhammed Alamgir.
They also took part in special prayer seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu and the martyrs of August 15, 1975 carnage.
Prof Dr Shahidullah joined as 13th Chairman of UGC on 26 May 2019 while Prof Dr Dil Afroza Begum, Prof Dr Md. Sazzad Hossain and Prof Dr Muhammed Alamgir joined as full-time Members in June 2019.
