A ten-member team led by University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan paid a courtesy call on Deputy President (Academic Affairs) and Provost of National University of Singapore (NUS) Prof Tan Eng Chye at the NUS Conference Hall in Singapore on Monday.
Prof Mannan currently on a study visit to Singapore is leading the ten-member delegation. Other members of the delegation include – members and official of UGC, Member of the Planning Commission and high officials of Ministry of Education.
During the discussion, the UGC team informed the NUS team about the development of Higher Education in Bangladesh under the present government and emphasized the need for establishing a closer academic and administrative relationship amongst the leading universities of the region, a UGC press release said here on Tuesday.
Members of both team agreed that the education provided by the universities must contribute to the development of the nation and make the students more competitive and skillful so that they are able to compete with graduates from home and abroad in the job market.
