UGC team ends study tour to Australia

The nine-day long study tour of a delegation of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh to Australia ended on Saturday with a day-long meeting with the senior professors, deputy vice-chancellor and other senior staff of Queensland University of Technology.
The ten-member delegation, led by UGC chairman Professor Abdul Mannan, comprised of members and senior officials of UGC, members of the Planning Commission and senior level government officials from the education and finance ministries, said a press release on Sunday.
During the visit, the delegation met the rectors, pro-vice chancellors and senior faculty members of the University of Melbourne, the University of Sydney, Griffith University and Queensland University.
The team discussed matters relating to enhancing the quality of higher education in Bangladesh, student and faculty exchanges and establishing connectivity on a long term basis between the universities of Bangladesh and Australia for better research and faculty development.
In all the universities, the UGC chairman gave an overview of the higher education in Bangladesh.
The team left Brisbane for New Zealand on Saturday where they will have similar talks with the vice-chancellor and other senior level professors of the University of Wellington.
