President Abdul Hamid has asked the University Grants Commission (UGC) to take steps to ensure quality of higher education.
The President made the directive when an eight-member delegation led by UGC chairman Prof Abdul Mannan submitted its Annual Report-2015 to him at Bangabhaban on Monday afternoon.
President Hamid, also the Chancellor of country’s all universities, directed the UGC authorities to bring necessary changes in course curriculum at university level so that young generation can move forward with success in the competitive world. The President’s press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
The delegation apprised the President of different aspects of the report and various activities taken by the commission.
They also informed the President that a parliamentary standing committee has started its activities to make the existing private university act more time befitting.
