A Memorandum of Understanding for Academic, Research and Governance Cooperation was signed on Tuesday between The University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) and Macquarie University of Sydney, Australia.
The MoU aims to promote academic, research and governance cooperation programmes, to cover all fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, business studies and social sciences.
Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman, UGC, Anthony Khouri Oam, Honorary Consul of Bangladesh in Sydney, Professor Md Yousuf Ali Mollah, Member, UGC, Dr Sherman Young and Pro Vice-Chancellor of Macquarie University, Dr Nicole were present, among others, on the occasion.
Macquarie will offer professional short courses, training courses for
Bangladeshi academics and UGC officials, educational administrators on
teaching, learning, quality assurance, strengthening leadership, e-
governance, institutional capacity building and other related issues.
They will also arrange seminars, workshops, guest lecturers featuring
research and publication expertise to relevant Bangladeshi Higher Education
Institutions and UGC on the basis of mutual agreement.
Both sides also agreed to explore funding of Post-Graduate research and
Ph.D programmes for university teachers.
The MoU was signed by Dr Md Khaled, Secretary, UGC and Mr Tim Beresford,
Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Macquarie University on behalf of their institutions.
The MoU will come into force immediately and will remain valid until
March 31, 2021 and shall be eligible for further renewal for successive
terms.
