The Secretary of University Grants Commission (UGC) Dr Md Khaled has been made Officer on Special Duty (OSD) on Wednesday for his alleged involvement in corruption.
The decision was taken during a UGC full committee meeting held on Tuesday. Md Mostafizur Rahman, Senior Secretary of UGC, confirmed the news.
UGC sources said, Dr Khaled was a member of the Assistant Director Appointment Examination Committee despite his daughter was a candidate for the post. But, he concealed this information to the Commission.
After the incident, the UGC formed a three-member committee, led by its former member Prof Dr Md Yusuf Ali Mollah, to investigate the incident.
The committee has found the evidence of the illegal influence by Dr Khaled in the recruitment process.
