University Grants Commission (UGC) has recommended withdrawal of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Khondoker Md Nasiruddin based on evidence of irregularities and corruption.
The UGC probe committee, formed to investigate the irregularities and corruption allegation against Khondoker Nasiruddin, on Sunday submitted its report to its chairman with the recommendation, said a member of the investigation committee, seeking anonymity.
UGC Chairman Professor Dr Kazi Shahidullah said that he received the probe report from the inquiry team in his office in the morning.
“The probe has been completed and the findings have been forwarded to the Education Ministry,” said the UGC Chairman.
On September 24, the UGC formed the five-member committee to investigate the situation of BSMRSTU as students of the university have been demonstrating since September 18, demanding the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor for his alleged involvement in corruption and irregularities.
On September 25, the five-member team, led by UGC member Dr Muhammad Alamgir, went to the BSMRSTU campus and talked to teachers, students and other related persons. The team members stayed on the campus for two days.
