UGC, ProInd hold meeting for strengthening HEMIS

University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh on Sunday held a meeting with ProInd, an Indian-based software solutions company, for establishing a comprehensive Higher Education Management Information System (HEMIS) under the proposed World Bank sponsored Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) project.
The draft ToR and feasibility of establishing a comprehensive HEMIS were broadly discussed in the meeting. Academic, non academic and general activities of all universities as well as UGC could be done through U-HEMIS & N-HEMIS. It will help to make their activities easier, dynamic and make their campus smart, said Harinder Sing, Director of ProInd.
Experts present at the meeting suggested to incorporate data analytics, block chain, artificial intelligence and other related issues for fourth industrial revolution in HEMIS.
UGC Member Prof Dr Md. Akhtar Hossain presided over the meeting. Prof Dr M Shah Nowaz Ali, Prof Dr Dil Afroza Begum, Prof Dr Md. Sazzad Hossain; Prof Dr Mohammad Shahdat Hossain of University of Chittagong, Prof Dr Roshidul Hasan of BSMRAU, Prof Syed Aktar Hossain of Daffodil International University and Prof Dr Khonndker Al Mamaun of United International University, Mokhlesur Rahman, Senior Operations Officer, World Bank, officials from UGC, WB, ProInd were present in the meeting.
It may be mentioned here that, HEMIS was established to assist UGC to enhance ICT activities in higher education sector. On the other hand, HEAT project will upgrade tertiary education, graduate employability, enhance connectivity and create women leadership in a number of countries in South East Asia.
