UGC Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan and its members expressed profound shock at the death of India’s First Lady Srimati Suvra Mukherjee, wife of the Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.
In a condolence message, they said that Srimati Suvra Mukherjee was a strong and inspiring moving force behind the success of Pranab Mikhterjee. The President and late Srimati Suvra Mukherjee played a very strong and caring role during the difficult days of Bangladesh Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina and her sister after the tragic killing of her entire family, including Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15, 1975. The UGC family extended deep sympathy to the brieved family members of Pranab Mukherjee and prayed for the salvation of the departed soul.
