The authority of University Grants Commission (UGC) allocated a Taka 114.02 crore budget for Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia for the 2017-18 fiscal, IU Treasurer office sourced said.
Of the total budget, University Grants Commission (UGC) will provide Taka 104.02 crore while the rest of Taka 10 crore will come from university’s own sources.
Treasurer of the university Professor Dr M Selim Toha said the IU authority had proposed a budget of Taka 183.18 crore to the UGC. But it approved Taka 114.02 crore with keeping allocation of Taka 65 lakhs in research section.
Besides, the university authority also submitted review budget of Taka 166.34 crore instead of Taka 129.60 crore for the 2016-17 fiscal while the UGC approved Taka 109.17 crore.
